Extensive experience building with modern frontend tools (React and well-chosen data stores), alongside years working in and migrating off AngularJS, Backbone, and CoffeeScript. I've led frontend rewrites end to end at Stitch and Nuix and mentored teams out of the knowledge silos that grow up around old code.
Stand up a testing culture the team actually trusts: meaningful coverage, fast feedback, and a green build that means something. I established the test practice at Stitch and kept it load-bearing through a full frontend migration.
Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and AWS. Move deployments off aging infrastructure and make releases boring. I migrated Stitch from AWS OpsWorks to Kubernetes, and at Amperity led a migration to Kubernetes resources and trained up the team.
Kafka, Kubernetes, and cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift). Redesign indexing and query strategy, cut compute spend, and parallelize pipelines that have stopped scaling.

I'm a product-minded engineering leader with 15 years of experience owning technical direction for customer-facing features from concept through production. Most recently I was a Senior Software Engineer at Amperity, where I owned technical direction for AI agent and Profile API initiatives and led a customer-facing AI assistant from architecture to production.
My through-line is making the calls that matter (what to build, how to structure it, where data lives) and directing teams (and, increasingly, tools like Claude Code) to execute against them. Before that I spent seven years at Stitch, a developer-focused ELT platform, rising from Software Engineer to Principal and leading its Pipeline Monitoring feature end to end.
I hold a BA in Mathematics and German from Dickinson College and was a Fulbright Scholar in Germany.

Redesigning indexing and query strategy for multi-criteria lookup, standing up Kafka / ksqlDB / Kafka Connect pipelines, and cutting spend where a product generates wasteful load. One warehouse workload dropped 60% in compute cost; a 100M-row benchmark load went from roughly ten hours to under one.
Moving frontends off AngularJS, Backbone, and CoffeeScript onto React, and deployments off aging infrastructure onto Kubernetes, without the multi-year rewrite that never lands. The testing practice that makes the change safe usually gets built along the way.
